In connection with the anniversaries of the birth of two great masters of the XVII century – Salvator Rosa (1615–1673) and Gaspard Dughet (1615­–1675) – the State Institute of Art Studies is pleased to announce a conference entitled “Western European landscape of the XVII-XVIII centuries: the 400 anniversary of Salvator Rosa and Gaspard Dughet”. 

The approximate range of topics of the conference:
— Place and role of landscape painting in the fine art of the European countries in XVII-XVIII centuries: oeuvre of Salvator Rosa and Gaspard Dughet;

— Collecting landscape painting in XVII-XVIII centuries and the development of artistic tastes to the landscape;

— The relationships and influences in the art of the North and the South of Europe: the work of S. Rosa, G. Dughet and other landscape painters from the perspective of the pan-European landscape paintings;

— Characteristic features of the landscape painting and drawing of the XVII-XVIII centuries: creative methods of landscape painters;

— Landscape painting tradition in Venice and Italy at the end of XVII and in XVIII centuries;

— Landscape painting in France and England of the XVIII century: on the questions of the influences of S. Rosa, G. Dughet and other masters of the landscape in the development of the genre.

Deadline for applying for the participation in the conference is October 1, 2015.
The application should include the following information: full name, occupation of the participant, the subject and an abstract of up to 1500 characters, contact information.
The conference will be in Russian and English languages.
All the articles will be published after the conference.

In 2015 we celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of two outstanding masters of the XVII century – Salvator Rosa (1615–1673) and Gaspard Dughet (1675–1675).
The exhibition devoted to this event will take place in the IN ARTIBUS Foundation, displaying paintings and drawings of Rosa and Dughet from a private collection.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an academic conference, organized with the support of the State Institute for Art Studies (Russia, Moscow) – the leading Russian centre for comprehensive research in the field of arts, both Russian and foreign.
