Official opening of In artibus Foundation

Official presentation of In artibus Foundation and its new art space at Prechistenskaya embankment was held on November, 27. The Fund established by a collector and publisher Inna Bazhenova marked its opening with an exhibition entitled ‘Enamored in Art Classics. Paintings and drawings by Vladimir Weisberg from Russian museums and private collections’. The exhibition is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Vladimir Weisberg (1924-1985).

The exhibition of 88 works by Vladimir Weisberg includes his paintings, drawings and watercolours from all periods. Major part of them will be on show in Moscow for the first time.
The curators of the exhibition are art historian Elena Rudenko and art history Ph.D. Elena Khlopina.

Exhibition “Enamored in art classics. Paintings and drawings by Vladimir Weisberg”

The exhibition’s title is related to a monograph ‘In love with the classic art. Painting of W.G. Weisberg in the tradition of colourism’ by Elena Khlopina, which was presented at a press-conference before the opening. This book, published in 2009 by the In artibus’ originators, includes a theoretical chart ‘Primary types of colour perception’ by Weisberg as well as an interview with the artist and a catalogue raisonné of his works.

At the night opening ceremony, guests were met by the Fund’s initiator Inna Bazhenova, its chief curator Elena Rudenko and executive director Ekaterina Kondranina.

The event was attended by art society members, businessmen, officials, collectors, and museum directors among whom were present MMOMA director Vasiliy Tsereteli, MAMM director Olga Sviblova, Commissar of Moscow Biennale Iosif Bakshtein, head of State Centre for Contemporary Art Mikhail Mindlin, director general of ROSIZO State musem-and-exhibition centre Zelfira Tregulova, , doctor of art history corresponding member of Russian Academy of Arts head of Russian Academy of Arts’ Research Institute Andrei Tolstoy, Kandinsky Prize director Tatyana Sahokhiya, collectioner Igor Markin, RMA school founder Nikolai Palazhchenko, executive director of ‘Vinzavod’ Foundation for support of contemporary art Irina Bobyleva, gallery owners Anna Azarnova (Azarnova Gallery&Projects), Alexander Metelkin, publisher Ram Petrov (Legenda Media), chief editor of The Art Newspaper Russia Milena Orlova, and others.

Guests were exchanging their impressions from the opening and Weisberg’s works in a special lounge zone organised by the partner of the ceremony House of Champaign Wines Ruinart.
Refreshments for the visitors were kindly provided by I Like Wine wine bar.
In the entrance lounge guests were invited to taste single malt Scottish whiskey Glenmorangie.
The opening ceremony of the art space of In artibus Foundation was held with kind support of Vesper investment company.
