Monticelli
CHARLES AND MARIO GARIBALDI

Anthology of Art History of the 20th Century series

A book about the remarkable French painter Adolphe Monticelli (1824-1886) is the first ever study of his work published in Russia.

Van Gogh‘s favorite, Cezanne‘s countryman and friend, Impressionists’ contemporary, Monticelli is virtually unknown to the Russian art history. Charles and Mario Garibaldi not only introduce the reader to the stages of the artist’s formation, but also show them into the cultural context in which Monticelli was formed and which he, in turn, influenced.

The book includes reproductions of more than 70 works by the artist, and is the first edition to present the full corpus of the artist’s works in Russian collections.

The book is part of the Anthology of Art History of the 20th Century series, initiated by the IN ARTIBUS foundation.
