The catalogue “Tatyana Mavrina. From Coast to Coast” was prepared for the exhibition of the same name at the In artibus Foundation and explores one of the main themes in Mavrina’s work — views of old Russian cities, village landscapes and sketches of everyday city life. The catalog includes about two hundred works by Mavrina, and many of them are published for the first time.
The gouaches and watercolours, which are brought together geographically, cover almost all stages of Mavrina’s long creative life. From rare drawings of the late 1920s and 1930s, which were shown at the exhibition of the 13 group, of which the artist was a member, and Moscow war-time albums that are prized by Russian collectors to numerous works created from the 1960s to the 1980s depicting trips to the Volga, the Golden Ring and Moscow Region.
The publication is accompanied by articles about T.A. Mavrina’s work, about the routes and themes of her travels, about the artist’s connection with her native Nizhny Novgorod. The catalog is addressed to both specialists and a wide range of readers interested in Russian art.
